Documentary Film Series
Client: Save the Children
Date: 2021-Present
Role: Writer, Director, Executive Producer, Editor, Motion Graphics
This is one of the most meaningful projects I’ve ever had the pleasure of taking part in. During the pandemic, long time clients Save the Children approached me about reinventing country visits, where donors go on set for a number of days to see the work happening in the field. We immediately arrived on the idea of doing verite, POV-style short documentaries about individual countries. We hired local film crews to conduct interviews with Save Stafferes, Partners, and Participants, as well as filiming content highlighting the food, scenery, and culture of the country we’re visiting. The films are premiered to groups of donors over Zoom, then the donors go into small breakout rooms to meet with the actual subjects of the documentary. The first doc, set in South Sudan, was so successful that we subsequently made six more (and counting!) in Appalachia, Colombia, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Mississippi, and Cambodia, with a new one about emergency response in Pakistan coming in January 2024. International Tour
Client: Bon Jovi
Date: 2019

This one was a blast, getting to make one of the largest video screens ever taken on tour to celebrate Jon’s three-plus decades of hits. Pairing with my creative partners Linda Strawberry and Andrew Hildebrand, we devised a 35-song set that seamlessly integrated 4k live cameras into filmed, animated and real-time 3D content, bringing the audience of 70-100k people per night up-close-and-personal with one of the biggest bands on the planet.

Client: Mt. Sinai Parenting Center
Date: 2022
Role: Writer, Director, Executive Producer, Editor, Motion Graphics
It was a fascinating challenge to create films that would actually be evaluated and used as a medical product. This multi-year project, funded and lead by the Mt. Sinai Parenting Center, involved working with the top pediatricians and mental health experts in the country to create a series of fun, entertaining, medically accurate videos that will be shown to parents across America as part of their first 14 well child visits from birth to five years of age. For more information, visit Sparks Parenting.

National Tour
Client: Smashing Pumpkins
Date: 2018
Role: Video Content Producer
This was a dream come true, not only because I got to work with one of my absolute icons (and scorer of my adolescence) but also because it is where I met my creative partner Linda Strawberry, who served as the Show Director and Creative Vision for this brilliant show. Combining non-traditional video surfaces (2x 25 foot tall video “doors” and 6x rotating 15 foot tall kinetic scenic video elements) with a blistering live set, we crafted a highly memorable 31-song narrative that took loyal audiences on a journey 17 years after the band last played together

Theater Production
Date: 2023
Role: Director; Production Designer; Projection Designer; Animator
A revival of the cult 80s comic book musical Starmites, with all new projections designed and animated 100% by me. This was a labor of love - a show I’ve been wanting to direct since undergrad. An amazing cast - including longtime creative partner Cat Davis as The Diva - and incredible crew of collaborators made this a particularly special project.
“STAGE RAW TOP 10… RECOMMENDED… a blast from start to finish… This is ambitious indie theater at its max, in which aiming for the stars has paid off.” — Socks Whitmore, Stage Raw
“WOW! IRRESISTIBLY ENTERTAINING… silliness at its campy best… tuneful and clever… inspired direction… a delectable musical treat.” — Steven Stanley, Stage Scene LA
“FUN AND ENERGETIC… [a] visual explosion of music and kinetics.” — Joe Mosqueda, Glamgical
“BROADWAY FUN… The challenges of good and evil lurk in fantastic tunes… the live music carries the day.” — Michael Sheehan, On Stage Los Angeles
“FOUR STARS… rocks the intimate space… [director Scott] Peterman’s projections are really out-of-this-world state of the art and gives Starmites the comic book look it needs.” — Rob Stevens, Haines His Way

For fun, I’ve been playing around with using 3D printing to execute finely detailed, fluid stop motion animation videos. I design the animations and camera places in Cinema4D, execute the final prints on a pair of DreamForge PLA printers, then shoot them using DragonFrame on my Canon 5D Mark IV DSLR, with a Nikkor manual lense and 3 pars controlled by Dragon Frame via DMX. I’m psyched about the results and brainstorming a full project to use this technique on.

Cat and I will never pass up an opportunity to work under our favorite showrunner Kara Lee Burke. Getting to work on such a cool project - which aims not only to entertain kids, but to teach them valuable lessons about mindfulness - made this one even sweeter. We couldn’t be more proud of the two episodes we wrote, which involved lots of heart, humor, and fun sci fi worldbuilding, brought to life by an amazingly talented and diverse voice cast led by series creator, the brilliant and inspiring Lily Singh.

Immersive Retail Pop Up
Client: Nike
Date: All-Star Weekend 2015
Role: Creative Director
This is one of my all time favorites, one of the rare designs where the original idea came to life basically unedited. To celebrate All Star NYC, I created an oversized Nike "shoebox" faced entirely in LED on the busy corner of Bowery and Great Jones in Manhattan. This structure contained a state-of-the-art, RSVP-only pop-up store selling some of Nike's most coveted kicks. I oversaw every aspect of the design and realization of this out-of-home experience, including: concept; exterior design; interior design; retail merchandising and video content on the box exterior. Nike asked us to recreate this experience in LA for Air Max Day in April 2015, and though we were too busy to fully execute the experience for them, at their request I once again served as video content director for that experience, with 3D box animations that told the entire history of the Air Max line.

National Tour
Client: Bon Jovi
Date: 2017
Role: Content Creative Director
Served as the lead creative voice for projected storytelling content for Bon Jovi's 2017 This House Is Not For Sale Tour. This included a 1:20 opening movie that was customized for every single stop of the tour, involving animation, film, and an original opening track. This also included content projected onto the band, the audience, and a series of retractable roll drops throughout the show. Consulted on the overall narrative and pacing of the show and the design and utilization of the entirely automated lighting rig featuring Best Boys, Sharpies, and entire trusses that travelled vertically at speeds of up to 10 mph.

Starting in 2019, I also directed all filmed content for the Benefit, shooting over 100 hours of interviews to craft a moving and meaningful celebration of what makes Robin Hood so special.

Role: Executive Producer; Show Director; Filmmaker; Animator (Save with Stories)
Perhaps the most challenging and interesting project of a very challenging and interesting year was the Save the Children Kid Strong Together virtual benefit.
We collectively decided early on not to try and re-create and in-person event, but instead to make :45 minutes of full video content that was not just about kids but was actually for kids.
This presented the opportunity to partner with Animal Planet, Jennifer Garner + Amy Adams, Brian Henson (!), Eric Idle (!!!) and many more to create one of the most fun, playful, joyous projects we’ve ever been a part of.

If you know me, you likely know that my number one favorite cuisine is “Street Food.” So it was a huge honor to be asked to chronicle the lives of some of the amazing entrepreneurs struggling to keep their delicious businesses afloat during the COVID pandemic. This is the first time I’ve been commissioned as a filmmaker to tell stories set in my own neighborhood of Jackson Heights Queens, which only added to the joy of an obvious passion project. Tight turnarounds and filmmaking in languages we don’t speak made this a challenging project, but the end product is one we’re extremely proud of.

It is an honor and great responsibility to get to work with Save the Children to create live events that encompass the innocence and resilience of childhood. With our great partners at Verona Productions, we conceived of an epic video canvas for their Centennial Gala to play out sweeping vistas and personal stories alike on a 40 foot tall surface. Animated gold textures embodied the elegant sophistication of the night, while lifescale fireworks brought a sense of joy to the finale.

Perhaps the greatest thing about what I get to do for a living is the people I get to meet - and few have had more of an impact than my great friend Gretchen Buchenholz. New York has had few greater champions than Gretchen, and she brings out the best in everyone she touches. It was a huge honor to get to spend a week with her and her staff focusing on the amazing work they do - not just during times of crisis like now, but every single day - for the children of this city. These films were certainly a labor of love for all of us.
with: Mollie Goldstein, Keetin Mayakara, Cat Davis, Andrew Hildebrand, Louis Zieja, Eugene Kim, Shelley Carter, Linda Strawberry
2020 has been a strange year for most industries, but none more so than live events. We’ve been so grateful that our expertise in technology and filmmaking have enabled us to pivot to become one of the premiere groups for directing and producing virtual events.
Alongside working on a pair of nationally televised fundraisers for Robin Hood, I’ve had the honor of directing and executing virtual benefits for some of the greatest organizations on the planet (including Teaching Matters, whose Advisory Board I have recently joined), working with talent as varied as Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Garner, Eric Idle, Brian Henson, Keith Urban, Rufus Wainwright, and many more.
It truly has been a blessing to be able to continue to grow our business while doing a great deal of good for New York City, America, and the world.

We were honored to produce the graphic identity and a few filmed segments for Robin Hood’s massive telethon Rise Up New York! in May of 2020. During the most critical moment of the COVID crisis we had the ability to create content for a massive Times Square takeover as the lead-in to a performance by Billy Joel that closed the show. This was a truly incredible moment (the event raised over $115 Million for relief efforts) and the fulfillment of a lifelong dream.

I created a concept for 2015 utilizing a 70+ foot uninterrupted video surface featuring tens of millions of pixels and a series of invisible doors that opened to reveal presenters and the famous Inside the NBA commentator team. 2016 featured an extended election theme starring "candidates" Conan O'Brien and Shaquille O'Neal that included 16x 18-foot tall automated video panels.
